A Convo With Greg Davidson & Michael Wieder of Lalo
In honor of Father's Day, we chatted with Greg Davidson and Michael Wieder, Co-Founders of Lalo—the safe, non-toxic, and beautifully designed baby + toddler brand.
Meet Greg
How did you and Michael have the idea to start Lalo?
Michael and I watched our friends and family go through the experience of shopping for baby. Through that lens we noticed how overwhelming the process of shopping for baby was and that most brands were only focused on their products and not the parents themselves and we wanted to change that.
How is Lalo changing the buying experience for new parents?
We are not here to confuse parents we build and create beautiful essentials for both child and parent a few ways:
- We use simple naming conventions that don’t try to confuse the parent only simplify it so they understand exactly what they are getting.
- We talk to our customers constantly and solicit feedback each and every day.
- By going into each room with in the home and creating a Lalo universe understanding what, and why you need a product is easy for the customer to understand.

Proudest moment since founding Lalo in 2017?
The amount of customers I have been able to interact with across the country. No matter where you are, or your background, being a parent is such a universal language and getting to hear each person's story is incredible!
Favorite MATE style(s)?
The Organic Fleece Hoodie has become my go-to. If you know me, you know I am hoodie obsessed and have tried many from a ton of different brands. The MATE fleece hoodies checks all the boxes on style, and comfort. It is he most versatile piece of clothing I have in my wardrobe.

How is Lalo different from other baby product brands?
The first thing is we didn’t start Lalo with an 'aha' product idea in mind, we started it over an 'aha' moment over how parents were interacting with the brands they were shopping for their littles. We knew parents deserved a brand that understood parenting is an art not a science. We’re a brand that shows up for our customers in the way we service them to the products we create. We care about the same things; the sustainability, the safety, the value, and we definitely don’t sacrifice on the aesthetics.

What’s one piece of advice you would share with another dad-to-be?
Create and cherish traditions early on. One thing I did was get my kids gmail accounts that I'll eventually hand over. I email them on their birthday every year a note about how they’ve grown in the past year and special moments from that moment in time. It helps cement some of the smaller moments and memories, that I can’t wait to revisit with them down the line.
Any exciting new launches and category expansions in the works?
Oh boy, big question! We just launched The Tower, which has to be on of our most used products of all time. I love when both kids snuggle up in there together to “help.” Lots of other stuff coming in play later this year that I’m pumped about, and one in particular that I think Dads will love…
Favorite MATE style(s)?
I love the Organic Fleece Hoodie and Crew Neck. Feel like it’s easy to dress up or down depending on what pants you’re wearing. Also always need a good hoodie for travel and I’ve been going on a bunch of work trips recently.
