Being thoughtful about materials is just one part of the equation. We’re proud to partner with Fabstract Clothing, a second-generation family business in India, whose factory is a model for ethical and responsible manufacturing.
Thoughtful Practices
Fabstract’s state-of-the-art factory was designed with the environment and employees in mind:
- Solar-powered: The roof is solar-paneled which powers the factory.
- Water conservation: Their rainwater collection and recycling systems minimize waste.
- Greenhouse-inspired design: They have a glass-enclosed green space in the center of the building, creating a bright and uplifting workspace.
- In-house knitting: Ensuring high-quality production with reduced waste.
Investing in People
Fabstract goes beyond responsible manufacturing—they invest in their employees' well-being. A portion of FOB (freight on board) is allocated to a fund that allows workers to purchase items of their choosing, including air conditioners, refrigerators, and even in-home sewing machines.
During our visit, MATE team members Daniel, VP of Operations, and Jenna, VP of Product, planted a tree on the factory’s property—symbolizing a new partnership that will continue to grow over time.
