Join the reMATE Revolution
Our circularity program keeps your old MATE items out of the landfill and recycles them into brand new products. Yup, our remakes are even better (for the environment) than the original.
Recycle NowWhat does Circularity mean to MATE?
Circularity at MATE the Label means keeping the most material in use for as long as possible. This means utilizing waste material in our supply chain and having systems in place to reuse materials from clothing that has passed its useful life. It also means ensuring that our products have the ability to return to the soil and re-enter the biological cycle if needed.
Please excuse our trash talk
Evolving the fashion ecosystem to be more sustainable requires us to uphold our standards at every step of our product's lifecycle–including its end life. When an item leaves our warehouse—even after you’ve worn it a gazillion times, slept in it, traveled in it, spilled on it, laughed in it, cried in it—it’s still our responsibility. We created a circularity program so you never give up on your MATE.

Once a MATE, forever a MATE
Our process involves a mechanical recycler that chops and shreds fiber until it can be re-spun into new yarn. This yarn is then used in a recycled product line.

The Circularity Strategy
Our circularity strategy encompasses both post industrial and post consumer recycling. Post industrial recycling means we are collecting and recycling our cutting scraps. These are all the little bits of fabric that didn’t make their way into a tee or sweater. Post consumer recycling entails us collecting and recycling clothing that is no longer useful. This holistic approach to circularity enables us to keep more material in use longer.

Recycle NowApproximately 85% of all textiles end up in landfills or incinerated.
Waste from the fashion industry has ballooned 220% since the 1990s but recycling has not increased at nearly the same rate.
